The Sierra Leone Mission is the Society administered and supported by the peoples and churches that make up the Connexion.
The population of Sierra Leone has endured tremendous suffering caused by the power struggle within the country. The country has a vast supply of natural resources, both mineral and agricultural, but due to the upheaval within the country caused in the main by numerous different rulers most people live in poverty.
During 1999, many people have been left without food, clothes and homes. In addition, many people have lost their lives or have suffered terrible injuries caused by the fighting and through kidnapping and torture. Churches and schools have been looted and in some cases burnt down.
It goes without saying that the people of Sierra Leone need all the help we can give. Some relief agencies are beginning to work their way back to the country to aid the people in rebuilding their shattered lives.
Woodmancote Church provides some assistance to the Sierra Leone Mission via the Connexion and regularly receives prayer letters from Connexional representatives based in Sierra Leone. The people in Sierra Leone that are known to us are always in our thoughts and prayers.
